Abstract

In this recording, Hal Tippins is interviewed by Amber Smith-Fillingim and Alisha Palmer at the University of South Alabama. Mr. Tippins speaks about the space race and working for NASA. He goes on to describe the event that he considers the start of the 1960s, as well as other significant occurrences during this time period. Mr. Tippins speaks on music and the general atmosphere of the 1960s. He also recalls life on campus, as well as the hippie subculture. Later, he gives a tour of campus and notes how much has changed on the property. Finally, the pair speak briefly with Dr. David Messenger as they prepare to scan some images.
