TABLE OF THE FALLEN SOLDIERS
This table and setting is a reminder that all of our comrades could not be here with us today…
This tablecloth is white, symbolizing the purity of their intentions to respond to their country’s call to arms.
The single rose in the vase reminds us of the blood they may have shed in sacrifice to ensure the freedom of our beloved United States of America.
A slice of lemon is on the bread plate to remind us of their bitter fate.
There is salt upon the bread plate, symbolic of the families’ tears as they learned of their loved ones’ death.
The glass is inverted; they cannot toast with us this day.
The chair is empty; they are not here.
~ Remember ~
All of you who served with them and called them comrades; who depended upon their might and aid, and relied upon them; for surely they have not forgotten you. It is our hope this day that with pride and honor, they will hear us as we toast.
THE ULTIMATE SACRIFICE TO THEIR COUNTRY’S CALL TO ARMS.
A round, four person table covered with a white table cloth and one place setting. The chair is leaned forward. The table setting includes one dinner plate, silverware (knife, fork, and spoon), a bread and butter plate, and a crystal drinking glass. A triangle folded American flag lays on top of the dinner plate. The drinking glass is inverted, and the bread and butter plate contains two slices of lemon and a small mound of salt. The silverware is on the left of the dinner plate and the Christian faith Holy Bible is to the right. A clear vase containing one blown glass red rose and a white candle are also on the table.
