Description
Blakeley includes the Gulf Coast's largest Native American mound centers. As the site is accessible only by boat and located in the heart of the Mobile-Tensaw Delta, the best opportunity for a visit is in the winter when water levels are lower and vegetation less dense. The incredible Bottle Creek site features eighteen earthen mounds built centuries ago by Native Americans and was once of the largest communities in the region. The tallest of the mounds rises some 45 feet above the Delta marsh, ranking it among the largest of its type in the Southeast.
