Abstract
In this interview, Frank Leon is interviewed by Ryan Morini over Zoom about his memories of his grandparents’ store, Leon’s Dry Goods, which was located for years in the Down the Bay community of Mobile, Alabama. His grandparents were Lebanese immigrants, and the store dealt in items such as clothes and hardware. Mr. Leon speaks of some of his family history in relation to the Down the Bay neighborhood, and his memories of Leon’s Dry Goods and of working there part-time while he was growing up—and particularly about his grandfather’s role and influence in his life. He also offers some reflections on the changes that he saw in the Down the Bay neighborhood over time.
