Abstract
This study investigated the if the use of student engagement methods increased students' academic performance. Previous research has identified many approaches for increasing student engagement. Using an AB single subject design, two students received interventions involving building one-on-one relationships, positive encouragement, and giving students success opportunities. Student A received intervention in reading and Student B in math. The dependent variables were test scores and class grades. The interventions were successful in improving students' test scores and class grades. Anecdotally, students' behavior also improved.
