Information for Readers
This journal is available to subscribers. Anyone may register (see below), but only subscribers will have full access to the articles online. Subscriptions may occur through your institution here through the SportDiscuss Database. Check with your library.
Alternatively, individuals and institutions may subscribe annually. Or, individuals may purchase individual articles.

Membership and subscription questions may be emailed to jsb@southalabama.edu. Memberships and purchased articles will be made available within 2 business days.
Registration
We encourage readers to sign up for the publishing notification service for this journal through this Registration Link. This registration will result in the reader receiving the Table of Contents by email for each new issue of the journal. This list also allows the journal to claim a certain level of support or readership. See the journal's Privacy Statement, which assures readers that their name and email address will not be used for other purposes.
For Authors
Interested in submitting to this journal? We recommend that you review the About This Journal section and the Policies and Author Guidelines section for the journal's submission policies. Authors need to register with the journal prior to submitting or, if already registered, simply log in and begin the process.
Authors should submit the following:
- Cover Letter
- Title Page
- Manuscript
Within your cover letter, please provide the names of at least 3 individuals (full name AND email contact information) who might be willing to review your manuscript. These individuals should be reliable reviewers, meaning they have the necessary skill set to review and have completed reviews in this content area previously.
The title page should include affiliation information for all authors and the full contact information for the corresponding author.
- Blinded title page containing NO identifying information
- Abstract (200-250 words)
- Manuscript Text and Tables/Figures must be submitted using the JSB Template.
The template is REQUIRED for submission. Authors should use the template and follow the instructions in the JSB Template Instructions for Submitting Authors document. Manuscripts that are not submitted in the template will be desk rejected, and the author cannot resubmit until the manuscript is in the template.

All manuscripts MUST conform to the style and procedure described in the most recent publication manual for the American Psychological Association. Manuscripts submitted that do not adhere to the approved submission process will not be reviewed. Please make sure to review all headings, labeling, references, and tables/figures before submitting to make certain that you are adhering to APA formatting.
Types of Submissions Accepted:
- Review: These are usually between 2000-3000 words (8-12 pages) and seek to systematically review a particular area of research, intervention, or policy. These papers are peer-reviewed.
- Research Paper: These are usually between 3,000 and 6,000 words (15-25 pages), but we also consider longer length papers up to 8,000 words (32 pages). Research papers should not exceed 35 pages in length, including references, tables/figures, and appendixes. Research papers are usually based on original empirical analyses but may also be discursive critical essays. These papers are peer-reviewed.
- Short Report:These can be up to 2,000 words, with one table, and no more than fifteen references. These papers are peer-reviewed.
All papers should be double-spaced. If you have questions regarding page length, please email the editor.
For Librarians
Insititutional Subsciptions are available through EBSCO's SportDiscuss Database
Insitutions may also subscribe DIRECTLY to this journal by going to this link and selecting "Institutional Membership." The annual fee is $200 and allows access to all issues digitally as Adobe pdf documents. The access is granted to all users logged in to your institutional domain, e.g., www.harvard.edu or https://icahn.mssm.edu/.
We encourage research librarians to list this journal among their library's electronic journal holdings. Also, it may be worth noting that this journal's open source publishing system is suitable for libraries to host for their faculty members to use with journals they are involved in editing (see Digital Commons Journals ).
Subscription Information
Individual and Institutional subscribers will receive 12 continuous months of access to all articles on the Journal of Sport Behavior site. Currently, the most recent 3 years are available on the site. Back issues are being added regularly. Individuals who require access to older articles may email jsb@southalabama.edu. Subscribers may request back-issue articles at no additional cost. Individuals who choose not to subscribe to the journal may order individual articles using the online order portal on the journal site.
Individual Subscriptions
Individual subscriptions can be purchased for $50.00 and include online access to all digital issues for one year. Individual subscriptions require a login to access subscription content.
Institutional Subscriptions
Institutional subscriptions can be purchased for $200.00 and include online institutional access for Members of the institution for one year. Institutional subscriptions do not require login. The user's domain and/or IP address is used to provide access to subscription content.
