The We Are Here Oral History Project focuses on historically Black communities of the Eastern Shore. Led by Drs. Mara Kozelsky and Clayton Vaughn Roberson of the University of South Alabama and Shawn and Vickie Graham (President and Director) of the Hope Community organization in Fairhope Alabama, the project received funding from Alabama Humanities Alliance and also had support from many university and community partners, including USA's McCall Library, the Fairhope Museum of History, and the Fairhope Public Library. Interviews highlight agricultural communities of the eastern shore, education during segregation and integration, as well as the role of church and community. Recordings in this collection also include conversations about racism.
