Abstract
You Know the End is a science fiction novel that follows an oracle who knows she is destined to be killed within the year the novel takes place. It explores the toll growing up with unachievable expectations can have on someone who strives to live up to those standards at the expense of their own mental and physical health. It also focuses on the treatment someone like that will tolerate from those who claim to care about them, even if that treatment is exploitative. Ottoline is the Prophet of New Ester Rose, and she is also just a kid who never got a chance to be her own person. She lives in the shadow of the man who came before her, and no matter what she does, she cannot live up to the expectations her city places upon her. What kind of world will someone create when they have the power to see the future, and how quickly will that world crumble to the ground at the slightest push?
