Abstract
In this interview, James Thomas is interviewed by Alisha Palmer over Zoom about his memories of the Down the Bay community. Mr. Thomas relates some of his family history, some of his own life history in and outside of Mobile, and some of the cultural and social dynamics of the neighborhood when he was growing up. He discusses the impact of urban renewal on Down the Bay, and relates it to persistent issues of race and racism in Mobile.
