Abstract
Lebanon Chapel AME Zion Church generously allowed the oral history team (Vickie Graham and Mara Kozelsky) to record their 101 year anniversary service. The service featured several guest speakers and musicians as well as attendees from neighboring churches. Mrs. Sarah Johnson’s presentation of the Lebanon Chapel’s history provides important information about how the church came into existence, and its many years of service to the community. The historical record compiled by Mrs. Johnson also described key church supporters and Lebanon Chapel’s rich historical interaction with other faith communities of Fairhope. The full recording of the church service offers an important window into religious history, including sermons, hymns, and selections from biblical texts. Speakers included: Rev. Twilla Burns, Mrs. Nina Hayes, Mrs. Sarah Johnson, and Dr. Sondia J. Christian. Mr. Smith played the piano.
