Abstract
In this interview, Dr. Joaquin Holloway is interviewed by Jada Jones and Ryan Morini at the McCall Library at the University of South Alabama. Dr. Holloway describes his memories of growing up in the Down the Bay neighborhood, including some of his childhood adventures and misadventures—interspersed with stories of the same in adulthood. He recounts attending Emerson Elementary, Dunbar Junior High, and Central High School. And Dr. Holloway shares some of his family history in relation to Mobile, as well. He describes founding Culture in Black and White, relates how he met his wife, discusses driving a bus for the University of South Alabama in its early years when he was on the faculty there, and relates a variety of other stories about his life and experiences.
