Abstract
In this interview, Natalie French and Thelma “Pinky” Steinback Juzang are interviewed by Kern Jackson at the James Seals Jr. Park and Community Center in Mobile, Alabama. Both Ms. French and Ms. Juzang grew up Down the Bay, and they share some of their memories of the neighborhood. They offer reflections on some of the social dynamics of Down the Bay, and share memories of community pastimes like roller skating, and Mobilian traditions like Mardi Gras. They also discuss the schools in the neighborhood and the role of education Down the Bay.
