Abstract
In this interview, Roland Darrell Denson is interviewed by Travis Davis in Mobile, Alabama. Mr. Denson begins by explaining how his family came to the Down the Bay neighborhood, and then their path returning to Mobile after moving North for work. He ruminates on the politics of Black migration to Northern cities, and then talks about the deeper history of Mobile and the fascination that he felt with archaeology and history from a young age. As the historical discussion continues, it becomes increasingly entwined with observations about Mobile’s Black neighborhoods and the observable changes in them over time.
