Abstract
In this recording, Johnathan “Bryan” May is interviewed by Michael Fitzgerald about his connection to Sawyerville and the Pickens family. The interview begins with Mr. May discussing his connection to the May family and their history. He goes on to discuss the Pickens family, their heritage and history, and his knowledge of the plantations they owned. He describes the Umbria plantation, its grounds and operations, and his understanding of the history of the people enslaved there. The interview concludes with Mr. May discussing the recent ownership history of the Pickens property in Sawyerville.
