The Sawyerville Oral History interviews, conducted in October 2019, focus on Sawyerville, Alabama, and the history of the Pickens family, including descendants of white slaveowners as well as descendants of the people whom they enslaved. Interviews focus on the original Pickens homestead in Sawyerville, memories of the African American descendants who lived there in succeeding years, and the life experiences and general family history of each person interviewed.

The files below are the interviews as they are catalogued in this collection at the McCall Library. Please note that what is listed as the "date of publication" in the description of each interview indicates the date that the interview was recorded.
