Abstract

In this recording, Vickie Pickens Fields is interviewed by Sarah Silkey about her family history in Sawyerville, including her connection to the Pickens family. The interview begins with Mrs. Fields discussing her family’s experiences working at Umbria Plantation when she was very young. She shares some of the stories passed down to her about Eloise Lunsford, one of the last Pickens to live at Umbria, and discusses her family’s experiences in Sawyerville and the surrounding area. The interview concludes with Mrs. Fields talking about her experiences as a teacher working in special education.
